United Way of Treasure Valley |

IPPA is offering two opportunities to help United Way of Treasure Valley during their Days of Caring events next week. United Way's Days of Caring is more than an opportunity to volunteer. It’s three days of big-time community impact! It’s a chance for groups such as families, work teams, civic and faith groups to roll up their sleeves and serve together.

The events IPPA has signed up for are on August 6 & 7. Event details are below and more information can be found at United Way's website:

You can pick whichever event you like. IPPA will contact you with more information once everyone has registered. Please sign up ASAP and only if you can for sure do it! This will be on a first come, first served basis.

Days of Caring Events

1. Organization: Boise River Habitat Enhancement

Summary: “On August 6th from 8:30am-11am, 10-20 volunteers will improve habitat and beautify the site of the future Middleton River Park. The large undeveloped area on the north bank of the Boise River west of Middleton Road is home to 92 species of birds and many other kinds of wildlife. Volunteers will wrap native trees with chicken wire to protect them from beavers. Volunteers will also pick up trash from throughout the site. BREN volunteers will provide instruction and oversight for the work as well as teach volunteers about the flora and fauna of the site.”

2. Organization: United Way in partnership with City of Boise

Summary: "Groups of 2-4 volunteers needed per day (8/6, 8/7 from 10:15am-2pm) to pass out free children’s lunches at Garfield Elementary School. Volunteers will meet at the Fort Boise Community Center at 700 Robbins Rd, Boise, ID 83702 at about 10:15am. They will pick up provided supplies (signs, pens, hand sanitizer, mask, gloves, etc) as well as one or two folding tables and up to 200 lunches (depending on location needs). A SUV or larger vehicle is ideal but a large car should work. Volunteers will then drive to the school, setup in the designated area (usually the parking lot or bus loop), and hand out lunches. Distribution is advertised to begin at noon and last until 1pm. Since this project will require more than one person, coordination of the volunteers ahead of time is ideal. In some cases, multiple cars may need to make the pickup at the community center. In other cases, some of the volunteers could just meet at the school. After the event, the supplies and tables must be returned to the Community Center."

Thank you and we can't wait to see some of you at these important events!
